difference between old and new raags

it is written in some books that the swara and swarupa of old raags (of raag raagini system) does not tally with the modern raags. can somebody tell me how it happend with some examples of the raags and some books to clarify these things?

We are in the process of recording chalans of basic raags, this will appear in the raagabase soon. Its taking longer than we expected with all the other activities going on.

Incidentally in South Indian Music the same Raag is known with the name 'NaagMani'. There is a wonderful cassette where Pt Malharrao Kulkarni has recited this Raag on Flute. Do check it out.

Namaste every body.... I´m marc planells from Spain ... now living in Portugal ... I been learning Hindunstany music from 2003, sitar and vocal...

I will like you to ask you the name of this raga form, it is very simple form and used arround the world in western is cold Mixolidia b9 b13, is the 5 th escale from minor harmonic mode, it is very used in flamenco music, in turky and arabic contrys is called Hijaz.

I could never fine the name or even listend this form in a Hindunstany classical music, also not apears in the raga finder.

Actualy is live basic form of Bairavi with G suda or like Bairav with n komal it is the same.

The form is like that :

I will be very happy if somebody can help on that.

Hello everyone,

Here is my question: I am looking for information about Raga Samay. I don't want to know when to play what - there is ample information on that available - but rather about the theory behind it. Does anyone know any book on this topic he or she would care to recommend? I can read English, German, French, and Hindi (my Sanskrit is very rusty). Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

The raag was wrongfully listed as Bibhaas, its actually Pratiksha or Bhupeshwari where R is shuddha and D is komal. I have made the necessary change.

I am trying to play the Marathi song 'Malvun Taak Deep' on keyboard. I see that this website lists this song for raag Bibhas which has swar S-r-G-P-d-S'. But when I play the song Shudha re seems suitable instead of komal re. Can you please share your thoughts?
