Jagannath Bua Purohit was the son of Janardan Purohit from Kolhapur. Bua was a popular vocalist of Agra gharana and the guru of Pt Jitendra Abhisheki. He learnt initially from Mohammad Ali Khan and then later from Shaboo Khan who was the nephew of Ustad Tanras Khan. Before learning from Vilayat Hussain Khan of Agra Gharana, he also got many beautiful and rare compositions from BAshir Khan of Gudyani. Under the alias of Gunidas, he composed many compositions and also created some rare raags like, Jaun Bhairav, Jogkauns etc. |
