Biography
Suman Ghosh is an Hindustani classical vocalist. Known for contributions to Hindustani classical music, performance, teaching, and repertoire building.
Pandit Ghosh began his journey in music at the tender age of 7 under the guidance of his mother Smt. Monika Ghosh. Later he trained under the maestros like Pandit Shrikant Bakre, Padmabhushan Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh, and finally, the living legend of Indian music, Padma-vibhushan Pandit Jasraj-ji, who transformed him into a full-fledged performing musician. In the year 2008, the Sangeet Martand himself has bestowed the title of “Acharya Varishtha” to Pandit Ghosh.
Times of India writes… Pandit Suman Ghosh “ has been able to cultivate a diction, a voice, a technique and a language cut to the size of the Mewati Gharana’s reigning Guru ( i.e. Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj-ji)…. The upper reaches of his voice has the same ringing quality of controlled falsettos which gives the style its remarkable reach and texture”.
The Hindu writes… “Well-known for his spiritually inspiring concert performances, innovative workshops and lectures, Pt. Suman Ghosh, shuffles between performance and academics with equal ease”.
