Pandit T. D. Janorikar got initial training under Pandit Vinayakrao Patwardhan of Gwalior Gharana. Later he became a doyen of Bhendi Bazar Gharana who took training of this style from the two stalwarts – Ustad Aman Ali Khan sahib and Vidushi Anjanibai Malpekar and amalgamated their styles to evolve a wholesome gayaki of the Bhendi Bazar Gharana. He was very keen that this lesser known style should reach the maximum of music lovers. Generously gave training to many disciples, including Smt. Sadhana Deshmukh, Dr. Suhasini Koratkar, Sharad Karmarkar, Shrikant Pargaonkar, Anuradha Marathe, Anuradha Kuber and Kedar Bodas and rendered yeoman’s service of preserving the rare style. As a top grade artist of A.I.R. he participated in many National programs, Akashvani Sangeet Sammelans and other music conferences and was recepient of many Awards for his valuable contribution to the music field. |
