Shobha Abhyankar was trained for Hindustani classical vocal music under Pt. Gangadhar Pimpalkhare (Gwalior and Kirana gharana) for almost 12 years. Later she received training of Mewati gharana style from the legendary Pt Jasraj. Shobha is a well-known Guru and has trained many upcoming singers including her own son Sanjiv Abhyankar, a famous vocalist of Mewati Gharana. Based in Pune, Maharashtra, she teaches at her home and also is affiliated to Lalit Kala Kendra, University of Pune, SNDT music department as a Guru. She has done PhD in music with a research work on Marathi Bhaaw-Geet. |
