Dr Chetna Pathak is the disciple of the internationally renowned Hindustani classical vocalist of Kirana Gharana Padma Vibhushan awardee, Hon’ble Dr Prabha Atre since 1999. Born in a Traditional musician’s family in Udaipur. Chetna is a gifted vocalist endowed with a mellifluous voice. She is one of the torchbearers of Kirana Gharana who was initiated into music at the tender age of eight by her mother Smt. Madana and father Shri Ramnarayan Ji. Chetna has been fortunate to receive lessons on Tappa Gaayaki from Pt. Bala Saheb Poonchwale, the maestro from Gwalior Gharana. Chetna has given many lec-dems, conducted workshops and performed in the majority of music festivals all over India. She has been selected by ICCR as the reference panel artist. She has received many awards to her credit. Chetna is an All India Radio approved ‘A’ grade artist in Classical Vocal & Light Classical Vocal, (Thumri, Daadraa, Tappa) categories. Dr Pathak demonstrated 19 lectures in ‘ALOK’ – A Musical discourse with Dr Prabhha Atre and a presentation of her compositions organized by Pune University, at Pune and by Swarmayee Gurukul in Mumbai from 21st Dec. 2017 to 13th May 2018. Chetna has got the opportunity to sing approx. 550 Compositions for the audio CD in connection with the book Swarangini, Swaranjani and Swar Rangi composed by her Guru Dr Prabha Atre Ji. ABROAD Dr Pathak participated in assisting by vocal support to Guru Maa Prabha Atre Ji in the many programs and lec-demonstration of Indian Musical forms and various factors of Indian Classical Music USA at Syracuse University, New York, Boston, Richmond, Washington DC, Ithika, New Jersey, etc. in 2008. She participated in assisting vocal support to Guru Maa Prabha Atre Ji in the many programs and lec-demonstration of Indian Musical forms and various factors of Indian Classical Music at Toronto [Canada], Boston, New Jersey, Austin, Dallas, Chicago, San Jose in the USA in 2014. She also participated in assisting vocal support to the Guru Dr Prabha Atre at Darbar Festival, London, UK in September 2015. She participated in assisting vocal support to the Guru Dr Prabha Atre at Bengal Classical Music Festival, Bangladesh in December 2016. Dr Chetna was the recipient of the following scholarships - National Scholarship in classical vocal music category by CCRT, New Delhi (1988-1993). National Senior Scholarship by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Culture, Government of India For ‘Rare Art Music’ (Rajasthan Maand). (1993-1994) State Level Scholarship for Classical Vocal awarded by Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Academy. (1997) Dr Chetna has received several awards – ‘Maharana Fateh Singh Award’ by Maharana Mewar Foundation, Udaipur, for outstanding achievement in Music (1989), ‘Maharana Raj Singh Award’ by Maharana Mewar Foundation, Udaipur. (1991), ‘Master Madan award’ for best performance in ‘National Level Classical Vocal, Folk Music and Light Music Competition organized by Sur Sangam Sansthan, Jaipur (1992) ‘Dagar Award’ for best performance in the Classical Vocal music category by Sur Sangam Sansthan, Jaipur. (1994) ‘Academy Yuva Puraskar’ in the classical vocal music category by Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Academy, Jodhpur. (2001) ‘Surmani Award’ for best performance in the classical vocal music category organized by Sur Singer Samsad, Mumbai. (2002) ‘Late Sita Ram Dixit and Smt. Malati Dixit classical vocal music Puraskar’ by Ganvardhan, Pune. (2004) ‘Sangeet Surnandan Award’ by Surnandan Bharati, Kolkata. (2005) Shastriya Sangeet Kala Ratna Samman from Shri Swami Haridas Sangeet Drupad Mahotsav Samiti, Vrindavan. (2010) Manad Sur Shri Award by Sur Sangam Sansthan, Jaipur (2012), Karma Shree Award by Anterrashtriya Samrasta Manch (2018). Her published books are - 1. Swaryogini Dr Prabha Atre - Ek Bahuayami Vyaktitva 2. Sangeet Nirupan 3. Bhartiya Sangeet Parampara; Ek Vichar. She has also published 48 research papers. Presently, she has been working as a Professor and also the Head of the Department of Music at the University of Mumbai. |
