Biography
Anant Manohar Joshi, popularly known as Antubua, was a well-known vocalist and composer. He was born in Aundh and received his early training from his father Manoharbua Joshi. He had extensive training in Gwalior Gharana under Gayanacharya Balkrishnabuwa Ichalkaranjikar for many years. For a short time, he came in acquaintaince with Ustad Rahmat Khan, the second son of Ustad Haddu Khan of Gwalior Gharana, which influenced him a lot. Antubuwa served as a court musician at Aundh Darbar, Maharashtra. He composed several Khayal Bandishes. He trained many in music, including his son Gajananbuwa Joshi, and others such as Acharya Ratanjankar, Vasantrao Kulkarni, etc. He received several awards including the President's Award, ie Sangeet Natak Academy Award in 1955.
