Suhasini Koratkar

Dr. Suhasini Koratkar received extensive training of the Bhendi–Bazar Gharana from the well-known exponent of this Gharana Pandit T. D. Janorikar. She also got special guidance of Thumri–Dadra from the renowned artiste Smt. Naina Devi. She is the senior most exponent and the Torch Bearer of the rare style of the Bhendi Bazar Gharana. She has participated in several prestigious Music conferences e.g. Tansen Festival Gwalior, Sawai Gandharva Mahotsav Pune, and Vishnu Digambar Jayanti Delhi etc. and given several successful music performances all over India, which have been highly appreciated by all the critics and connoisseurs. Along with Khayal, she has been rendering Thumri – Dadra concerts as well as light music programs of Ghazals, Bhajans and Marathi Natya Sangeet. She has delivered Lecture–demonstrations on various music topics at several colleges and universities. She has presented papers in many Music Seminars and many of her articles in Hindi, English and Marathi are published in Music Journals and magazines. She had served in All India Radio as station director and Director of Programmes (Music) at Delhi and had produced special music programs and features for A.I.R. Her vocal renditions are published in many cassettes and CDs released by various recording companies such as HMV, Rhythm House, Midas, Musicians Guild and Makar, Paris. She has done various archival recordings at various universities & music organizations. Dr. Koratkar has been composing Bandishes (over 100) of classical and light classical music with the pseudonym 'Niguni'. She has composed many exquisite Hindi and Marathi light music songs, also.
