Biography

With the encouragement of her parents, she started taking lessons in music at a tender age and by nine she began singing before a small audience around her home. Her serious study in Hindustani Classical Music started under guidance of noted musician in Wardha (Maharashtra). After marriage, Shobha moved to Indore where she was guided by Late Shri Madhavrao Joshi for ten years; his lessons gave a depth to her dedication towards ongoing talim. She then took lessons from Late Pt. Vamanrao Rajurkar of Gwalior Gharana (father in law of Vidushi Malini Rajurkar) and Padmabhushan Late Pt. C. R. Vyas. and Late Pt. Balasaheb Puchhawale, to pursue intrinsic qualities of Khayal Gayaki and assimilate her unique ideas in her performance.
