Biography

Goswami ShriLal penned down many musical lyrics with Nome de plum 'Kunwar Shyam'. The saint-musician-composer Kunwar Shyam, an ascetic who sang only within the precincts of Delhi's Radha-Govind temple, has left behind a rich fund of compositions. Goswami ShriLal Ji was founder of Goswami Ji temple at Dharmapura, Delhi. He was descendent of Shri Mishra Narayan Ji (who was referred in BhaktaMaal of Sant Naabhaadas) who settled down to Delhi in 15th cent coming from Multan. His ancestors were also related to the tradition of music in Vrindavan and Swami Haridas Ji. Later on three branches of Mishra Narayan Ji spread in Vrindavan, Delhi & Jaipur.
