Asha Lohia

AcharyaGuru Shrimati Asha Lohia is a disciple of PadmaVibhushan Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj ji of the Mewati Gharana. She is also the sister-in-law of Dr. Mukund Lath who is one of the first disciples of Pandit Jasraj ji. Shrimati Asha Lohia has put a lot of effort into preserving the traditions of Indian Classical Vocal Music in North America. She established the first Mewati Gurukul in North America. For her pioneering efforts in establishing the Mewati Gurukul in North America (1990) she was awarded the title 'AcharyaGuru' by the Pandit Jasraj Institute of Music in New York (award bestowed by Pandit Jasraj ji). She currently teaches in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada as she is the head faculty member of the Pandit Jasraj School of Music Foundation, Vancouver. She has taught many young and upcoming vocalists such as Shri Amit Arya. She also hosts many concerts and she introduced many celebrated artistes into North America.
