Ali Baksh Khan 'Jarnail'

Ustad Ali Baksh Khan was founder of Patiyala Gharana, along with his contemporary singer Ustad Fateh Ali Khan. Ustad Ali Baksh Khan used to sing with his friend Fateh Ali Khan. They both were trained in music under Tanras Khan, Kalu Khan, Behram Khan of Udaypur, Mubarak Ali khan, Haddu Khan & Hassu Khan of Gwalior. The duo was called Aliya-Fattu. Before the partition of India they have been the court musician in Patiala. Because of their musical skill, they were carrying the title of Jarnail (Ali Baksh) and Karnail (Fateh Ali). They were court singers in the court of Patiyala. Ali Baksh Khan was Guru of Ali Baksh Khan Kasurwale and Kalu Khan (Ust Bade Ghulam Ali Khan's Guru-s). He also taught music to Akhtar Hussain, Imrat Ali, etc.
