Sandhya Kathavate

Sandhya Kathawate, a doctorate in music, received training from Dr Shashikant Tambe, Pt V R athavale, and Pt Babanrao Haldankar. She is AIR artist who sings both classical and light classical music, has to her credit albums of classical, semi-classical and Indo-American collaborative CD of Ghazals called Yaad Aaya. She is a faculty at Mumbai university and offers lecture demonstrations at various institutions, universities and organizations on a variety of music related subjects ranging from Khayal, Thumri and comparative studies in Indian Classical Music.She is well known for her rendition of light classical vocal forms like thumri, dadra, kajri, sawan and jhoola and is equally comfortable singing khayal, bhajans and abhangs.
