Biography

Wajid Hussain Khan 'Lagan Piya' was the youngest son of Imdad Khan of Sehaswan (disciple of Ustad Haddu Khan of Gwalior). He, along with his elder brother Amjad Hussain Khan, got training in music under his father. From 1930 to 1942, he lived in Mumbai. During his Mumbai years, Prof B R Deodhar and Kumar Gandharva learnt many of his beautiful compositions, composed with pen-name 'Lagan Piya'. He shifted to Allahabad in 1946 where he started a music school and died in the same place circa 1952.
