Manjiri Karve - Alegaonkar

Manjiri Alegaonkar has naturally sweet voice which also possesses resonance or some more elusive quality which makes you prick your ears when she is singing. She also happens to be the daughter of a reputed classical vocalist, Shri.Mohanrao Karve. Because of this she has been exposed to pure classical music from her early childhood. Her early exposure to classical music was of Gwalior Gharana - Vaze Buwa tradition as Mohanrao Karve is disciple of late Vaze Buwa. She received a very systematic training of Jaipur-Atroli gayaki from late Wamanrao Deshpande, a well known Musicologist. She was also trained by Pt. Babanrao Haldankar of Agra Gayaki and Pt. M.S.Kanetkar of Jaipur Gharana. Apart from attaining exemplary mastery in classical Music Manjiri is also an excellent exponent of light music, stage music & Gazal in which she was trained by the experts in the respective fields. She is a Top grade artiste of Akashwani and Doordarshan. In addition to scholarships she has been selected in I.C.C.R. reference panel of artiste for Hindustani Classical Music.
