Biography

Diego Hauptman is an harmonium artist. graduated in philosophy at the Universidade Federal do Paraná and studied music at the Faculdade de Artes do Paraná in Brazil. He is a multi-instrumentalist, who since 1993 has been studying guitar and other stringed instruments such as: bass guitar, mandolin, violin and sitar.

Among his inspirations are: Djavan, Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, Mercedes Sosa, Jaco Pastorius, Jimmy Page, Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo, Pat Metheny, Ustad Vilayat Khan, Ustad Shujaat Khan, Egberto Gismonti and Hermeto Pascoal.

Mr. Hauptman has been a member of many bands and music groups such as The Liverpoolgas (Beatles cover), Bayaka (World Music Orchestra), also directed and produced a Brazilian and Indian music fusion band, The Upanishads. He has collaborated in various albums, playing along with great Brazilian recording artists, having released two albums of his own.

Deepening his research on world music forms, Mr. Hauptman has studied the art of Sitar playing under the guidance of Mr. Abhik Mukherjee, Mr. Ramprapanna Battacharya, Mr. Subhranil Sarkar, Ustad Shujat Khan and Ustad Shahid Parvez.
