Biography
Pandit Mani Prasad is a vocalist from Kirana Gharana of Hindustani Classical Music. Hailing from a lineage of musicians, Pandit Mani Prasad learnt music from his father Pandit Sukhdev Prasad, who was trained under Ustad Abdul Wahid Khan of Kirana Gharana.
Pandit Mani Prasad is highly respected in the field of Hindustani Music. He has not only carried forward the ancient customs and traditions of the art, but also made his own contributions to its development. Under the pseudonym 'Dhyan Rang Piya', he has composed many bandishes, as well as created new ragas such as Dhyan Kalyan, Dhyani Todi, etc.
He has passed on his art to many talented singers and artists such as Smt. Savita Devi Maharaj, Smt. Rita Ganguly, Smt. Uma Garg, Pt. Ramesh Jule, Pt. Vishwanath, Chandan Das, Maharaja Ranjitsinh Gaekwad, Smt. Surinder Kaur, among many others. He is currently a Guru at the Smt. Gangubai Hangal Gurukul in Dharwad, Karnataka.
