Mohankumar Darekar

Mohankumar Darekar is one of today’s widely acclaimed performers, gifted with well trained voice that traverses with ease over three octaves, while displaying perfect diction, purity in notes and good command over Tala allowing him to create complex and rhythmically attractive Taan and Sargam combinations. Mohankumar Darekar took music lessons from Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki for over 15 years in traditional Gurukul system. He also had voice training for Dhrupad under Ust. Saifuddin Dagar Saheb. He completed 'Sangeetacharya' from ABGM and got degree of doctorate. For last many years, he is learning under Pt. Rajan and Sajan Mishra of Banaras. Dr. Darekar is equally fluent in Thumrí, Dadra, Tappa, Gazal, Natyasangeet, Bhavgeet and Bhajan. He is a composer too.
