Nandanji (disciple of legendary vocalist Pt. Omkarnath Thakur in Banaras Hindu University), guidance from Pt. Kundanlal Sharma taught him the intricacies of the 'Shyamchaurasi Gharana' of Panjab. For 8 years, he learnt the execution of complex 'Taan' patterns along with the art of professional presentation with Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. Achievements: Top grade artist of All India Radio, Sahitya Kala Parishad Award (Delhi 1994), Sangeet Kala Ratan honour by Matri-Udhobhan Ashram (Patana 2005), first prize in Varanasi Mandal (Sangeet Natak Academy 1996), junior fellowship (2002), senior fellowship (2009), Naad Shri (Musical Odyssey, Delhi), Puttaraj Gaurav Samman (2018), first prize in an annual music competition in Hariballabh (Jalandhar), regular performer of SPIC MACAY, empanelled artist in ICCR.
