Biography

Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan was the son and disciple of Ustad Ghulam Jafar Khan, a renowned Sarangi player. He continued his training in vocal music under Ustad Mushtaq Hussain Khan, a legendary singer of Rampur Seheswan tradition. He was well versed in Khayal, Thumri, Tappa. He performed in India and abroad in the U.K., Australia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Mauritius, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, China, and Afghanistan. He was a top-graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan. He worked as a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Music at the University of Delhi. He taught music to many disciples, including his son Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan, grandson Ghulam Hasan Khan, Jaspinder Narula (a Bollywood playback singer). He received the Padma Shri award in 2005. He passed away in Delhi.
