'darasa piyaa' bina jiyaa bekala hai
kita sautana biramaaye ||

अखियां उनसो लागी
मोरी आली अब लो नही आये ।
'दरस पिया' बिन जिया बेकल है
कित सौतन बिरमाये ॥
Meaning
The Nayika (heroine) in this poem says to her friend - I am in love with only him (but) Oh my dear, he hasn\'t arrived here for a long time. For his sight I am desperate (Daras Piya\' means the sight of beloved, and also the nom de plume of the composer) Has he entangled with some other woman?
