Meaning
Come, O Shyam (Krishna), come and play Holi with me. Spray your pichkari filled with colors, O playful son of Nanda, full of mischief. Lost completely in playing with colors and gulal, Everyone is exhausted in this joyful play. Now don’t tease me anymore, O Shyam Spray the pichkari full of colors, O mischievous son of Nanda.
Notes
This bandish evokes the Holi leela of Krishna, filled with shringār rasa (romantic playfulness) and madhur bhakti. The speaker lovingly invites Krishna to join in the festival of colors. “Nand ke chhaliya” emphasizes Krishna’s playful, teasing nature. The repeated request to “मारो भर पिचकारी” expresses both joy and affectionate surrender to divine mischief.
