Meaning
This Bandish is a creation of Ustad Murad Khan Beenkar of Indore, who was astonished by the playing of his disciple Ustad Babu Khan. Babu Khan was a bright disciple by all means, but had a highly erratic nature, and would seldom do his Riyaaz. He would be found roaming around with mendicants, often high on narcotics (alcohol/opium). When Murad Khan returned from his routine stroll one day, he found Babu Khan playing an enchanting Todi on the Veena (Been), to which Murad Khan spontaneously composed this Bandish. The last line of the Sthayi refers to a typical Hindi slang (for eg. \'गधे के बचà¥à¤šà¥‡\' to call someone a fool) where Murad Khan refers to Babu Khan as \"Babu ke chhore\".
