षाडव सुध ग-नी की ।
मध्यम वादी प्रथम संवादी
संगत सोहे म-ध-रे-नी-ध-म की
मममममममम-द्वय शोभा
शुभ अरुणोदय की ॥
Meaning
The structure of Raga Lalit is very appealing, in which Rishabh (second note) and Dhaivat (sixth note) are Komal (flat), Both the Madhyam are used, Gandhaar and Nishaad are Shudha (natural), Pancham is omitted and so this Raga belongs to Shadhav Jaati (a group of 7 note Ragas). Vaadi swar is Madhyam while Shadja is samvaadi swar (in this Raga). The swar sangati of M-d-r\'-n-d-m adds to the appeal, MmMmMmMm - in this way both the Madhyams can follow each other and this adds to the beauty of the Raga and the Raga is sung just before the sunrise.
