अब नैना बाट जोहे
दरसन के मिलन सो रे ॥
पूजा करूँ, टीका करूं,
पाँव पखारूँ, उतारूँ दीयना रे ॥
Meaning
O beloved one, Now my eyes wait endlessly on the path, Longing for the moment of your divine darshan. I shall offer worship, apply the sacred tilak, Wash your feet in reverence, And perform the aarti with a glowing lamp.
Notes
These lines express viraha mixed with bhakti loving yearning filled with devotion. The speaker addresses the beloved as “dilavara” (dear one), which may signify Krishna, Rama, or the divine beloved, blending human love with spiritual surrender. “नैना बाट जोहे” conveys intense anticipation eyes fixed on the path, waiting for darshan. The second stanza deepens the bhava into seva and bhakti, describing traditional acts of worship: puja, tilak, washing the feet (paon pakharna), and aarti. Together, the verses portray the devotee’s heart prepared entirely for the beloved’s arrival emotionally, spiritually, and ritually.
