Meaning
This bandish describes a playful Holi (Phag) scene filled with love, teasing, and emotional expression between Radha and Krishna. It begins with the sakhi saying that Krishna has come to play Holi, yet he is pretending to hide his true intentions. She questions why he is being secretive and playful in this way, suggesting that his heart is clearly set on engaging in this joyful and intimate festival of colors. In the antara, the sakhi reassures that she understands his feelings and intentions well, as she is a close and loving companion of Radha. She playfully adds that even the other women of the household, such as Radha’s nanad and jethani, are aware of his affection and the situation. The bandish beautifully captures the lighthearted teasing, emotional closeness, and festive romance associated with Holi, where love, mischief, and familiarity come together in a vibrant and expressive way.
