Dance

Description
Classical Indian dance is not an instrument, but it is inseparable from the classical music ecosystem. Indian performance is built on raag and taal, and dance makes those structures visible through footwork, gesture, and expression, often interpreting lyrics and mood with detailed storytelling. Many forms carry strong religious and temple associations, with devotional themes and mythological narratives shaping repertoire and style.
The “construction” here is the trained body, supported by technique, posture, and often ghungroo that turn rhythm into sound. Performance involves precise alignment with taal, controlled movement that reflects melodic mood, and expressive abhinaya that communicates meaning. It is a solo art supported by musicians, and what makes it unique is that it turns musical time into physical form, letting the audience see rhythm and emotion as movement.
