Origin
This Raga is said to created by Sant Soordas, a Vaishnav Saint musician in medieval times. On the other hand, some musicologists believe that this Raga is a creation of Baba Surdas who was a court musician in Mughal darbar. But, the first anecdot about origin is more acceptable as we find many compositions of this Raga in Haweli Sangeet, a Vaishnav temple music tradition.
