Origin
Rageshri, also known as Rageshwari - means ‘Goddess of Raga’ - obviously a glorifying title not in any way pointing to any technical or musicological feature of the Raga. It is a newer Raga and hence it is difficult to come across ‘traditional’ Dhrupad or Dhamar compositions in it. Though the name may figure in some early texts the descriptions can hardly be expected correspond to the current practice! Most of the available traditional compositions are from the reportoire of Agra & Atrauli Gharana-s.
