Origin

This Raga was created by Ustad Alladiya Khan of Jaipur - Atrauli Gharana. Ustad Alladiya Khan named it as 'Dagori', as a tribute to medieval Dhrupad singer Baba Haridas Dagur of Vrindavan, the fountainhead of his tradition. But when this Raga came into circulation, as many students of KhanSaheb didn't announced the Raga-names, this name was not exposed. So, Govindrao Tembe called it 'Anamika' (i.e. name-less). Some musicians from the same Gharana had called it as 'Deepaki' as it has Patdeep Ang in phrase - mPDmP NS' R'S' NS'-DPm- | But Dagori is most common name of this Raga. Ustad Alladiya Khan Saheb composed only one Bandish - 'E Ali Ri Beer Mohan' in this Raga. Later, some musicians from the Gharana might have composed a few Bandishes as complimentary to this Khayal.
