Biography
Abdul Latif Khan (born 1924) is an sitar artist. Abdul Latif Khan come from a traditional family of musicians from Gwalior. He was groomed in music under his grandfather Haidar Khan, father Chhote Khan and also uncles, Uday Khan and Haddu Khan. He also studied other instruments such as Sitar, Santoor and Tabla. He learnt Sarangi under Bade Ghulam Sabir Khan.
Ustad Abdul Latif Khan performed at the most prestigious music festivals all over India, both as a soloist and as an accompanist. He served as a staff artist (Sarangi player) at All India Radio, Bhopal for long time. In 1989 he performed at the Sarangi Mela in his hometown Bhopal.
Ustad Adul Latif Khan was regarded as one of the best Sarangi-players in India. He was respected as a highly responsive accompanist. He accompanied many maestros, such as Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Amir Khan, Hirabai Barodekar, Nazakat & Salamat Ali Khan, Kumar Gandharva, Mallikarjun Mansur, Kishori Amonkar, etc. He was recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1992.
