Biography
A classical Tabla virtuoso of the highest order, Pandit Sadashiv Pawar’s brilliant solo as well as accompaniment performances have established him as one of the finest and most brilliant Tabla players of the country. He was born and raised in a small village named Wai in the district of Satara in Maharashtra, India. He had the privilege of gaining the unique skills of solo tabla performance from his guru and the doyen of Farokkhabad gharana, Ustad Amir Hussein Khansaheb. Although Ustadji had the knowledge of various gharanas like Delhi, Agra, Farokkhabad and Punjab, he went ahead to create his own style/gharana of Tabla playing.
As a child prodigy, Pt. Sadashiv Pawar started performing since his very early age. He has performed at very prominent music conferences in places like China, Afghanistan, UK, USA, etc to name a few. A favorite accompanist for many of India’s leading musicians like Padmabhushan Ustad Halim Jaffer Khan, Panditji’s uncanny intuition and unimaginable improvisational skills made him one of the finest performers of his time.
In 1983, Panditji started his own organization by name “Sadashiv Academy of Music†with the thought of propagating Indian classical music to the world. Every year, his organization invites some of the greatest classical musicians and provides an opportunity to new and upcoming talents in the country in its annual musical conference. His very vision is being further conceived and developed by his own son and disciple, Shri Rupak Pawar, who founded his own music organization, “Rupak Sangeetalayaâ€.
Pt. Sadashiv Pawar is the recipient of several awards and titles from prestigious organizations and is an extremely acknowledged and published A-top All India Radio grade artiste.
