Swapan Chaudhuri

Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri is undoubtedly a true master with complete control of the Tabla. His command over the instrument is unlike that of any other. He was trained for Lucknow Gharana Tabla playing under Pandit Santosh Krishna Biswas of Kolkata. Swapan Chaudhuri holds degrees in both, Music and Economics. His long years of training with sarod virtuoso Ali Akbar Khan has provided him with the ability to perform at a seemingly impossible level. He plays the tabla with complete knowledge of every sound that it could possibly produce and how to produce them in sequence correctly. Panditji has accompanied the likes of Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Pandit Nikhil Banerjee, Vasant Rai, Ustad Vilayat Khan, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, and many others. He is currently a teacher at the Ali Akbar Khan College of music in San Rafael, California.
