Origin
The name suggests an ancient lineage. Expectably the version found in early texts does not tally with the contemporary practice in Hindustani music. Interestingly it is likely to sound similar to Hindustani Raga Malkauns which is identifiable with the Raga Hindol in Carnatic system!
