Firoz Khan was a vocalist contemporary to Niyamt Khan Sadarang. He was one of the first composers of Khayal in India during 18th century. He used pen name "Adarang" in his Bandishes. The poetry in his compositions suggests his philosophical and spiritual nature. He was basically a Dhrupad singer and was in the court of Mughal King Mohammad Shah II 'Rangile' in 18th century. Some music historians say that he was brother of Sadarang, some state that he was son of Sadarng. Many of his compositions are in Panjabi language which suggests that he had a connection with Panjab. |
