Ustad Rahim Fahimuddin Dagar belonged to the 19th generation of celebrated Dagar family of Dhrupad. He was son of Padma Bhushan Ustad Allahbande Rahimuddin Khan Dagar and was born in Alwar, Rajasthan. He was cousin of Nasir Moinuddin Dagar and Nasir Aminuddin Dagar (Senior Dagar Brothers), Nasir Zahiruddin and Nasir Faiyazuddin Dagar (Junior Dagar Brothers), Zia Mohiuddin Dagar, Fariduddin Dagar, and Hussain Sayeeduddin Dagar. He was trained in music under guidance of his father & uncles, especially Ustad Nasiruddin Khan Dagar. He also learnt Rudra Veena and Sitar. He performed on all major music platforms in India and Europe. Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar has been honoured with various awards among which the prominent are Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1993–94), Sahitya Kala Parishad (1996), Indra Gandhi Fellowship (1997), Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan Award (1997), Kalidas Award (2002), Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2003), Lifetime Achievement Award (2005) by North American Dhrupad Association, Lifetime Achievement Award, by Govt. of Delhi (2007), Padma Bhusan Award(2008), Sangeet Natak Akademi Ratna Purashkar (Fellowship)(2010). He died in New Delhi after a severe paralytic stroke and cardiac attack. |
