Anand holds the distinction of being possibly the only practising Mohan Veena professional in the UK. A disciple of Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, the acclaimed Grammy Award Winner and creator of the Mohan Veena, Anand has been pioneering and promoting this unique adaptation of the slide guitar which combines the sounds of Sitar, Sarod and Veena within a lap-style modified guitar. A Chartered Accountant by training, Anand has successfully managed to balance his career as an IT Manager in London with his real passion - music. He set up The NoteAsia Foundation in 2009 to enrich community well-being through music (http://www.noteasia.org). He has recently created the London Raga Class (LRC), an interactive Hindustani music appreciation course. Besides, he teaches the Mohan Veena/ slide guitar and collaborates with musicians of different genres to create interesting music that is based on a strong classical foundation. |
