Sadiq Ali Khan was a celebrated musician in 19th century. He was from Qawwalbachche tradition of Khayaliya-s. It is said that he refined 'Bandish Ki Thumari' and with introducing it to court of Lucknow, developed it in mature art form. So he is said to be a founder of Lucknow Gharana of Thumri. He also commenced singing 'Bol Bant ki Thumri' in slow tempo. He was a great composer, who composed hundreds of Thumris with pen name 'Sadiq Piya'.
Sadiq Piya's prominent disciples were Wajid Ali Shah, Bindadin Maharaj, Qadar Piya, Bhaiya Ganapatrao Shinde, Khurshid Ali Khan, Inayat Hussain Khan, Ramkrishnabuwa Vaze and others.
