Dr. Satya Bhargava started learning Hindustani vocal & sitar simultaneously at the tender age of ten years from Shri Neel Madhav Sinha (disciple of Shri Aminuddin Dagar) and Shri S.N. Gulati respectively. She has the honour of being the student of the first batch of Music (Hons) in Delhi University where she learned music under the guidance of Late Prof. R. L. Roy, Late Shri C. S. Pant and Late Shri Pran Nath. She did her M.A., M.Phil., PhD from Delhi University and did Sangeet Visharad and sangeet Alankar Gandharava Mahavidyalaya Mandal. She did her PhD under the able guidance of Late Dr. Vinay Kumar Aggarwal (Ex. Dean of Sangeet and Lalit Kala Sankaya Delhi University, Delhi)
She has the honour of getting the training under Guru Shishya Parampara in Khayal & Dhruvpad Gayaki from the very renowned performing artist Late Shri B. S. Thakur (disciple of Late Shri Firoz Nizami, Late Shri Gajanan Kulkarni, Late Shri DhundiRaj Puluskar & Late Shri G. D. Pakarasi of Vishnupur School). She also had the opportunity of receiving guidance from Late Shri Nasir Zahiruddin Dagar.
Since childhood she used to go to greet the special dignitaries like Russian president Mr. Bulgenin, President of Saudi Arabia Prime Minister of Russia Mr. Khrushev, King Of Nepal Mr. Mahendra etc. to Palam Airport. She had been performing in presence of many high profile people like Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Shrimati Sarojini Naidu and Shrimati Indira Gandhi etc.
She is the regular artist of AIR & DDK and is well known Performing Artist in the field of Dhrupad-Dhamar. She performs only Dhruvpad-Dhamar because her Guru pledged her to perform only Dhruvpad-Dhamar to promote this dying and rare form of Hindustani music.
She has produced many programs for Doordarshan for e.g. Special Festival Programmes (Like Dussehra, Deepawali, Holi, Basant Panchami, Janmashtami, Teej etc.) and Children Ballets (Dance Drama) etc for four decades. She has been teaching music for last 6 decades and out of various LecDem’s the one presented at “Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts” (Dhrupad Se Khayal Tak) was very much in lime light.
She has given many public performances in various music Festivals & Sammelans in Delhi & outside, few of which include the Haridas Jayanti Samaroh at Vrindavan, Haridas Sangeet Sammelan at Mumbai, Dhrupad Mela at Varanasi, and Dhurpad Samaroh at Indore, Kalidas Samaroh at Ujjain etc.
She is the Examiner for Post Graduate Degree of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. She is in the panel of Sangeet Natak Academy Jodhpur for Scholaships, and also is in the panel of judges for Sangam Kala Group.
