Akhil Jobanputra has been learning Hindustani vocals since the age of 3. Under the guidance of many teachers of the Mewati Gharana, Akhil has imbibed the characteristics of the Mewati lineage. Alongside that, he has also been trained under the guidance of Neeraja Aptikar (disciple of Dr. Vikas Kashalkar, Smt. Jayashree Ranade, & Pandit Shivajirao Bharati) in the stylistic disciplines of the Gwalior & Kirana Gharanas. He has undergone intensive training with other vocalists such as Smt. Jayashree Ranade, Hemang Mehta, Shweta Jhaveri, and many others. Currently, he is receiving taalim from Jasraj ji, Sanjeev ji, and also from Dr. Arun Dravid ji of the Jaipur Gharana.

Akhil is a student, performer, researcher, and teacher of Hindustani vocal music in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He has performed around Canada, the US, UK, and India. Akhil's notable concerts include his performance at the Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroha, Hyderabad. He also had the honour of being on stage with his Guru Pandit Jasraj ji at the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav in Pune, India.

Akhil has received many awards and honors including being awarded the 'Mewati Pradeept', 'Mewati Deepak', and 'Mewati Deepankur' titles, from the Pandit Jasraj Institute of New York. In 2013, Akhil was awarded the 'Times of Canada Award - Arts & Culture Category' for his outstanding contributions to the community of Indian classical music in Canada through his organization, ICMSV Indian Classical Music Society of Vancouver. The organization, founded in 2009, promotes and organizes concerts as well as offers classes for those interested in Indian Classical Arts. Recently, Akhil received the Mihika Arts Musical Achievement Bursary for his growth in artistry. For more information, please visit:
